Smithereen Farm hosts workshops in collaboration with our sister organization, Greenhorns.
- Greenhorns offers free and low-cost events for the benefit of the local and regional community. If you are able to donate beyond the affordable cost of a workshop, or if you enjoy a free event, consider making a tax deductible donation to Greenhorns to support the actual costs of this and future programming so we can keep these accessible. - Coming for an event and want to stay a while? You can book a campsite at the farm.
- REFUND POLICY Due to our rural location and small event sizes workshop registrations are not refundable.
Come find Smithereen Farm at the Common Ground Fair! We’ll be there with our value-added products (seaweed, soaps, sprinkles, teas, and more!) plus a brand new volume of the New Farmer’s Almanac.

This 2025 Common Ground Country Fair will be held at the Common Ground Education Center in Unity, Maine on September 19, 20 and 21, 2025. The fairgrounds are open Friday and Saturday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The Maine Organic Farmers and Gardeners Association’s (MOFGA) annual celebration of rural living features 1000-plus exhibitors and speakers, and emphasizes vibrant communities, sustainable living and local economies, while highlighting organic agriculture.
