Greenhorns Summer Camp Schedule

This particular patch of blueberries is highly diverse, surrounded by blooming roses and feral apple trees and encircles by a big dark forest with fragrant balsam fir and twinkling beeches.  The fields are sunny and bright (wear a hat, but there’s a shaded table and winnower for sorting berries…and a nice place for a picnic. We supply paper quart containers or gallon bags, suggested prices is 5/10 dollars but pay what you can — plus all you can eat while picking.

Blueberries are just the beginning…all summer long, Greenhorns, our 12- year old sister organization, hosts educational summer camps. They’re hosting Lily Calderwood (UMaine) and Jarrod Fowler (Xerces Society) in September for a native pollinator and insectary workshop called “Insect Camp”. There’s also Cider Camp, Yurt Camp, Oyster Camp, Sardine Camp… and you guessed it “ Blueberry Camp” with Blueberry wine making the weekend of the Pembroke/ Washington County Fair August 15th — and a summer movie series in our historic headquarters “Reversing Hall” which is on your left just as you head out the Leighton Point Peninsula.

So be in touch!

Come camp on our site, borrow a bike, pick some berries and wild beach greens, walk the Leighton Point Beach, or the trails by Reversing Falls, or the kid-friendly trails at the blueberry land to visit reindeer moss boulders….

And stay in touch. We just planted 2000 strawberry plants!

If you love the concept but want to skip the drive … Order a case of our blueberry jam! A healthy wild gift to please the most snobbiest snob and the most earnest hipster.
